AG Odisha emerge All-India cricket champions

Host Accounts General of Odisha beat AG Rajokt in the floodlit final by 42 runs to emerge champions in the All-India Audit and Accounts Cricket Tournament at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today. Former state Ranji all-rounder P Jayachandra starred in the AG Odisha win, scoring flamboyant century.

His 102-ball knock of 121 was studded with five hits to the fence and six over it. Govind Poddar provided him good support with an 82-ball knock of 79, which included five boundaries and two sixes. Batting first, East Zone champions AG Odisha mustered a formidable total of 237 for four in the stipulated 35 overs.

In reply, AG Rajkot were bowled out for 195 in 34.4 overs. Rahul Dave waged a solo battle for the Rajkot side, slamming a defiant 93 off 80 deliveries. Jayachandra and Dave were adjudged as the man of the final match and man of the tournament respectively.

State Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik handed over the trophy at the closing function. Accountant General Bijay Kumar Mohanty and Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera were present on the occasion. Muna Nayak of Phulbani, a trainee of the hockey camp in Cuttack, won a Honda Shine motorcycle as the lucky spectator of the final match.

BRIEF SCORE: AG Odisha 237/4 in 35 overs (P Jayachandra 121, Govind Poddar 79; Sagar Bhojani 3/34) beat AG Rajkot 195/10 34.4 overs (Rahul Dave 93, Payas Ranjan Sinha 4/41, Saroj Barik 2/34, Bibhudutta Panda 2/45).
